SEO Tips: Beginner's Guide To Search Engine OptimizationThe SEO (search engine optimization) tips presented here are intended as
a quide for webmasters who have only recently become aware of the issue of search engine ranking and
search engine optimization. You don't need to be a technical wizard to use my SEO tips. However, these tips also include many optimization techniques for more
experienced web site designers who have seen their search engine rankings decline and want help to
recover their prior ranking. Overall, the goal is to increase qualified traffic to your site, and
not to mindlessly seek top ten search engine results. Don't hire any SEO company, even
an affordable service like mine, until you've browsed through my search engine optimization tips. The
essentials of improving your website's rankings in search engines are very simple: Make the primary
topic of each web page stand out clearly and prominently, provide a clear hierarchical structure of links to your
website's individual pages, and create as many high-quality paths between your website and other
websites whose topic is related to yours as you reasonably can. Anyone with a modest knowledge of
how web pages are created can follow my advice. With my SEO tips as your guide, you can do your own basic search engine
optimization. But, as the saying goes, God is truly in the details when it comes to the search engines,
and so I have filled these pages with easy-to-follow search engine optimization
tips. Just start at page 1 - "Preparing Your Website," and you'll find the basic
information to put your website on the road to high search engine rankings. As you learn about SEO, keep in mind that most information about search engine
optimization that was written before 2002 is obsolete. Old webpages and computer books that have
any information about search engine optimization tend to focus advising webmasters to overstuff
your pages and the Keywords and Description <META> tags. That used to be enough to give
you a boost in the search engine rankings against your relatively uninformed competition, but
the major search engines now all but ignore <META> tags in terms of ranking webpages. Books
about search engines should also be considered in light of their age. Web pages live forever,
so scour them for any indication of their age. Use the "Properties" command in the
File menu of Internet Explorer or the "Page Info" command in the Tools menu of Firefox
to find the date that the page was last modified. The search engines are in a constant battle
to keep ahead of schemers who try to fill them with SPAM, so they change their ranking methods
frequently. I update my optimization tips regularly in order to keep them relevant and accurate. If, after you've read my search engine optimization tips, you
would like to have some experienced eyes check out your website's search engine effectiveness,
please visit my Search
Engine Optimization Services page where you can ask for my FREE Search Engine Evaluation
for your website. I'll be happy to show you what you're doing right, what you're doing wrong, and how I could
help you in the future. There's no charge, no obligation, and no risk of SPAM. |
